SPANISH FRUIT TRADE.

Citrus-fruit exports from Spain to the United Kingdom are of the utmost value to the country of production. The cultivation of citrus fruit is one of the chief industries in Spain, the most important fruits grown being oranges, mandarines, grapefruit, and lemons. Valencia is the most important province in the cultivation of these products. The area under cultivation, according to the Bulletin Periodique" issued by the Societe Beige d'Etudes et d'Expaneion, is 74,000 hectares; production amounts to IJ.OW.UUU quintals, valued at 260,000,000 pesetas. The United Kingdom is the principal outlet for Spanish citrus fruit taking 3,000,000 quintals, followed by France with 2.300,000 quintaJs, Germany with 1,700,000, Holland with 825,000, and Belgium with 800,000 quintals.
