The Minister of Education (the Hon. S. G. Smith) will return to Wellington this evening from New Plymouth.

The Hey. J. R. Blanchard, 8.A., of St. John's Presbyterian Church, is at present suffering from eye trouble. He is making satisfactory progress and hopes to be able to resume his duties in the course of a week or two.

Mr. G. Ellis, a member of the British Labour Party for forty-two years, who is visiting the Dominion, was introduced to the conference ; in , Weir lington of the New Zealand Labour Party yesterday by the president, Mr. H; T. Armstrong, M.P., and was given a hearty and enthusiastic reception. Mr. Ellis is also a member of the Tottenham Labour Party, and has been a member of the Co-operative Wholesale Society for thirty years. He brought fraternal greetings from the movement in England, and expressed his appreciation of the hospitality and comradeship extended to him in New Zealand. Mr. Ellis was asked by the conference to convey the fraternal greetings of the New Zealand party to the Labour movement in Great Britain. . '■'
