LONDON, April 21. A series of earthquakes last night and today shook many places in the Mediterranean. '
The shakes were so violent in Portugal that inhabitants of houses fled to the fields. Alarni was also felt at Malta and Florence. It is believed that the epicentre was in the Levant.
