Special forecast for Wellington:— Moderate south-easterly winds, later turning to northerlles. Weather toe at first, but clouding over, and some rain probable tomorrow'
The weaker forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today, is for south-easterly winds at first about Cook Strait, otherwise north-east to north; moderate to strong generally. The weather is expected to be fine in Westland and in the southern part 6f the South Island;'. elsewhere cloudy and overcast. Rain is probable in/the northern half of the North Island and will extend gradually southward. Temperatures mild. -',:.., There has been comparatively little change in the meteorological situation. The anti-cyclone which has covered New Zealand < during the last three days has increased* in intensity but is beginning to move to the eastward. Conditions are still disturbed over the western Tasman Sea, while a shallow depression is centred north-west of Cape Maria Van Dierrian and has been responsible for considerable cloud on the East Coast and some r rain in North Auckland and between Hawke's Bay and the East Cape. In the latter district there have been heavy falls of rain and some flooding, otherwise fair to fine and mild weather has prevailed. Winds have been mainly south-east and north-east. • At Auckland the weather was fine until Sunday morning, when light rain set in.' The rain ceased during the afternoon, but there were showers agairtduring the night. North-easterly winds prevailed. , . : Wellington has had fine weather throughout. Though it was cloudy at times and a southerly breeze prevailed, there was abundant sunshine, and temperatures'were mild. / At Christchurch Saturday was fine but in the evening and during yesterday the sky was overcast with a light misty drizzle at times. '; The winds were variable, easterlies predominating. Dunedin experienced fine and sunny weather on Saturday. Sunday was dull but otherwise fine and mild. Winds were variable, southerlies predominating, but this morning a fresh north-easter was blowing.
