MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Cases in the Magistrate's Court today were dealt with by Messrs. T. H. Coltman and W. 11. Goy, J.P.s. ' • ■ On. the application of Mr. J. Meltzer, a remand for a week was granted to Joseph Hall,- aged 41, a billiard-room proprietor, who is charged with using obscene language irt Manners Street, and with assaulting Constable T. H. Waite in.the execution of his duty. Bail was renewed. Stating that at least two other charges would be placed against the accused, De-tective-Sergeant L. Revell asked for and was granted a remand until April 26 in the case of William Alexander Phillips, aged 57, a carpenter, who jb charged with failing to comply with the terms of bis release on probation. William Adolphus Cunningham, aged 47, a labourer, was fined 10s for a second statutory offence of drunkenness. A conviction was entered against Agnes Robertson Williams, aged 45, a domestic, who admitted using obscene language in Taranaki Street. Sub-Inspector C. E. Roach said that the words complained of were used by the defendant in a house late at night. She was giving her husband a curtain lecture, and language, which was not particularly Parliamentary, could bo heard in the street.
