MANAWATU V. WELLINGTON
BLUNDELL'S SLOGGING INNINGS (Special to the "Evening Post.") PALMERSTON N., This Day. The outstanding features of Saturday's play in ■ the cricket match Manawatu v. Wellington were E. D. Blundell's forceful batting and M. Waldin's., successful bowling and fielding. Coining in as tenth man, Blundell treated every ball as one to be slogged to the boundary, and rattled on SO in 45 minutes. He even went as far as to secure' 30 off' one over —three C's and three 4's. It was a delightful conclusion to the clay's play, and pulled Wellington out of a difficult situation. On the other hand, Waldin secured three wickets in his' first four overs, one a difficult catch off his own bowling. G. Robertson also distinguished himself by scattering Ashendeli's stumps with a throw-in of fully 30 yards. R. Hatch contributed a fine 81 to Manawatu's overnight total. Scores are as follows:— MANAWATU. First innings 312 , WELLINGTON. First Innings. E. W. Tindill, b Leet 70 11. A. Whyte, c Pollitt, b R. Hatch . 13 W. Christophersen, b Leet 11 S. Ward, c J.
