VISIT OF HASTINGS TEAM
Members of the United Club, Hastings, visited Wellington on Saturday to try conclusions with the Wellington Club. The match resulted in a draw, 5-all. The United Club were represented by Oxbrow, Stewart, Wright, Hunt, Fitzinauric'e, McKee, Thompson, Kirkman, McCutcheou, McNab, and Dower. The Wellington Club players comprised only three of last year's seniors, .the others being taken from the junior grades. Ferguson, the local centre-forward, kept his young forwards well together and provided them with plenty of opportunities of showing their ability. The lads took advantage of these opportunities, and the five goals scored were shared among the vanguard, Molyrieux (2), Gilbert, Ferguson, and Verral.
The visitors played sound hockey and proved themselves a combination of considerable merit. Goals . for tho visitors were secured by Fitzmaurice (2), McNab, Kirkman, and McCutcheon. Mr. Mullins was referee.
In the evening the teams met at dinner. Mr. Newport, on behalf of the Wellington players, expressed his pleasure at having a visit from the United Club. Such iuter-chib visits, ho said, did a groat deal to foster the "stick" game. He trusted the visit would be the forerunner of many more.
