SHANGHAI, April 12.
Chiang Kai-Shek is today waging a bitter and most difficult anti-Red campaign against'the remnants of forces which are operating in the provinces of Kweichow and Hunan under the notorious leader Holung, directed by Soviet agents. All efforts to engage him in a decisive battle have been futile, since the.Reds are continually moving through mountainous territory. However, Chiang's forces drove the attacking force towards Szechwan, seyeral heavy engagements resulting in the death of the notorious leader, Chutes, whose troops were responsible for the capture of the missionaries, Messrs. Hayman and Bosshardt, whose fate is still unknown.
So long as the Reds_ continue their dodging tactics there 'is little. ,possibility of a quick termination of the present campaign. -
