PERSONAL NOTES.

We regret that we have not full information to give associations regarding the players selected for the trip. India has advised that it has acceded to.our request that the majority of the team are to be Indians, and that the team shall be fully representative, of India's best strength, including Olympic players.

The team was chosen before the dispatch from India of the last air mail to reach New Zealand, but apparently the secretary did not deem it advisable to give us the full names until all-the players selected had signified their acceptance. However, we are pleased to advise the following:—

The; manager will be Mr. Behram Doctor, who is the honorary secretary of the Indian Hockey Federation. Another official will accompany him, but in what capacity we are not yet advised; possibly he will be an umpire.

There will be sixteen players in the team, including the world-famous Dhian Chand, who is recognised as the greatest player the game has'knowh; his Highness the Nawab of Manavadar, who is the ruling prince of the State of Manavadar. He is recognised as the best left wing-forward in India to day, and apart from his hockey abilities, his. high rank will add very much to the interest in the team. His private secretary, M. N. Masood, who is captain of the State team of Manavadar, has been selected.

The other player of the party of whom we have been advised is Rup Singh, who is a brother of Dhian Chand. The two play together in the forward line, and at the last Olympic Games they formed a wonderful combination.
