LEVEL CROSSING ACCIDENT

Lan McQuillan, a carpenter, single, aged 27, was cycling over the Bridge Street railway crossing at Mataura when he was struck by the South express shortly after noon today. He was carried some distance by the engine and then thrown clear. He sustained serious head, back, and arm injuries, and was admitted to the^Gore Hospital. '
