KINGSFORD SMITH RETURNS
TO AUSTRALIA
Quring : the last few weeks Sir Charles Kingsford Smith has been in New Zealand quietly'negotiating with various interests, and presumably with the Government, in connection with his suggestion that the Tasman should be regularly crossed by highspeed' twin-engined machines capable of covering the distance in about 7£. hours. His discussions ended yesterday, and with Lady Kingsford Smith he, left on his return to Australia by the Wanganella last evening.
Sir Charles said-that he preferred not to' discuss his proposals at present, or to speak,of the result of the negotiations, other than to'say that his proposals had met with very sympathetic consideration..
■ Sir Charles suffered a severe attack of influenza and lay in bed in Wellington for, some" days, but he has now fully recovered.
