MORE TRIPS ABROAD

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—As an elector oi this Dominion I desire through the courtesy of your columns to protest against the unnecessary expense which this country is being put to by the trip abroad by the Prime Minister and his retinue, and the subsequent . trip by Mr. Coates. We all remember the World Conference "fiasco" and expense associated with it, also the recent trip to Australia and also at hopeless failure. The slogan of our present political heads appears to be, "Another little trip won't do us any harm." Then of recent years there have been various visitations abroad (also at the expense of the taxpayer) by various Government officials. When Parliament, meets again one of our local members has undertaken to obtain for public information a detailed account of the expenditure incurred in con-i nection with these trips. Neither Mr. i Forbes nor Mr. Coates will have the slightest effect in the deliberations abroad; they will simply do what they are told, nothing more and nothing less. It is time some public protest was made at this waste of public money, which would more properly be employed in alleviating genuine distress.—l am, etc.,

DISGUSTED TAXPAYER.
