THE MASQUERADERS

OPENING READING

There was a large attendance at the opening reading of the Masqueraders' Club for the 1935 season, held last night. ■ "Private Lives,1' by Noel Coward, was read, and was enthusiastically received. The characters were taken by Amanda Prynne, D. Levy; Victor Prynne Mr.' E. B. Porter; Sybil Chase, G. Shallcrass; Elyot Chase, B. Orsborn. Tlje stage directions were read by Miss V. Robertson. The introductory: and incidental music was played by Miss Mavis Crawford.

Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. Capel Johnston, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Levy, Mrs. D. M. Robertson, Mrs. Henry, Mrs. Blathwayt, Madame R. H. Bligh, Mrs. H. Lundius, Mrs. Crawford; Misses R. Constable, M. Gundry, D. Robins, J. Porter, J. Ca'rruthers, M. Marsh, M. Haggett, E. ■Turner, G. Stevens, Stoddart, J. Bligh, R. Hardie, D. Levy, B. Fame, Shallcrass, M. Wright, E. McDonald, E. Walker, G. Grennough, S. Walker, D. Davey, B. Salmon, Robertson, M. Blathwayt, E. Bourne, M. ; Frame, M. Yon Kaisenberg, a party from the Wellington East Amateur Dramatic Club, and Messrs. G. Mabin, A. Mason, K. Hart, G. Fraser, R. Barnes, R. Hardie, 'B. Orsborn, E. Porter, and J. Frame.

: At the conclusion of the reading a delicious home-made supper was served under the direction of Miss B. Salmon and helpers. At the next meeting to be held in the Charming Hall "Strange Orchestra," by Rodney Acklahd, will be read. '
