A BETTER OUTLOOK

MANAWATU A. AND P. ASSOCIATION .

(Special to the "Eveninfl Post.")

PALMERSTON N,, This Day,

For the first time since 1929, the membership of the Manawatu A. and P. Association shows an increase on the previous year. Though the increase is small, it is nevertheless a healthy indication, and so far 157 new members have been enrolled for 1935. These facts are revealed in the annual report of the association to be presented at the annual meeting next week.

The review of .the past year records important changes in the financial figures, the committee, while realising that a careful watch had to be maintained over expenditure, being aware that the limit had been reached in economies if the standard of the shows was to be maintained. It was pleasing to note that almost every source of revenue showed a decided improvement on the previous year. The loss for the year amounted to £601 19s sd, the chief contributing factors. being a reduced profit from the spring show, a fall of £120 in revenue from grounds and buildings, and the exclusion from the profit and loss account of fees paid by life members. There were also increases in expenditure such as maintenance, travelling expenses, and legal expenses. General expenses increased by. approximately £282, and the gen eral revenue fell by £310. The. chief source of trouble was the heavy burden of interest payments. . .
