Auckland. March 26th» An offer of 1/- a case to Auckland rruitgrdwers to destroy Delicious ,anpleß affected by the codlin moth has been made by the Government. . It is estimated that the decision .of tne Government.will affect about 80,000 cases of Delicious apples in the Auckland district.: Bookings for export exceeded 60,000 cases. It is not known what form of destruction-will be used but it is stated that the apples will be available for manufacturing purposes, cider, and stock foods. - P.A. The air mail which left London on March 9 will arrive at Wellington by the steamer James Cook from Australia on Monday, April 1. Advice has been received that Mr. A. H. Vila has agreed to nomination for the mayoralty of Greytown. A further candidate for the Maaterton Borough Council will be Mr. L. Pearson of Lansdowne. The Mayor of Wellington's Fund for Crippled Children has now exceeded £500. The ppsition to date is: Already acknowledged, £458; Mr. and Mrs. L. 0. H. Tripp, £100.' '
