INDIAN HOTKEY TEAM
The Management Committee of the Wellington Hockey Association hopes to secure June 3 as the date for the match between the Wellington representatives and the All-India hockey team, which arrives here on May 13 to commence a New Zealand tour of nearly eleven weeks. If June 3 is not available, the committee will apply for June 1. To have the tourists play in Wellington on June 3 will cost the local association about £500, of which £300 will go to the New Zealand Hockey Association.
Test matches will be played at Christchurch, Wellington, .and Auckland, and will be conducted by the N.Z.H.A. The itinerary will be arranged so that the test matches follow the provincial matches in each centre. Dhian Chand, the famous forward of
the Indian Army team, which visited New Zealand in 1926, will be captain of the All-India combination, which will include most of the 1932 Olympic Games players. At Los Angeles India's representatives were acclaimed as the finest hockey players in the world, and they won the competition with the greatest;of ease, defeating the United States team in the final by 24 goals to 1.
Special senior A matches will be played on April 13 to enable the Wellington sole selector, Mr.' P. A. Joblin, to study the form of players likely to find places in the Wellington representative eleven. The actual senior A competitions will commence on April 27, and those in other grades on May 4.
It is intended to use one of the Nae Nae grounds thoughoul the season for senior matches. . • ,
