£2300 REWARD

Underwriters of the gold which was lost recently from the Hillman airliner | and. found in France, have decided to pay the finder 10 per cent, of its value, or about £2300, instead of the £1000 reward offered originally. The reward is to go to the actual finder of the gold—Mme. Dion, wife of an unemployed chairmaker. She is. the mother of four children, and works in a mill. Report*"are current to the effect that the owner of the field in which the gold was found if claiming part of the reward, but It is stated on good authority that a claim of this nature would not be valid In French law. The possibility, that there will be other claimants makes it necessary to ensure that the reward reaches the right person, and it is understood that the actual payment will be made through the Prefecture of the district. The local gendarmerie, who were exposed to severe weather in guarding the gold before it was safely deposited, will also probably receive suitable recognition of their services. The gold was insured with Lloyd's underwriters and the London Assurance.
