Mr. Phillip C. Miles, of Wellington, was admitted a solicitor today by Mr. Justice Johnston on the motion of Mr. J. H. Miles

The death of Mr. William Henry Jones, which occurred at his residence Ellice Avenue, will be deeply regretted by a wide circle of friends. A Wellington resident of long standing, and well known and respected by people in various walks of life, the late Mr. Jones, who was in his 75th year, gave a lifetime of service in various interest!. Born in England, he came to New Zealand as a young man and Joined the Bank of New Zealand, in Auckland, being later transferred to the head office of the Bank in Wellington. He was on the inspecting staff at the time of his retirement. His interest in military training was keen. After having joined the army in England, he rose to the rank of captain in New Zealand, and many senior cadets and territorials served under him. He was a prominent figure, too, at military camps. An athlete of note, he took an active part in amateur athletics, and in later years as a judge at sports meetings. A keen boxing and gymnastic enthusiast, he was popularly known years ago as "Strong Man Jones." He was a member of the New Zealand Society of Accountants and was also a prominent Freemason.
