WAIKONINI EXPLOSION

HASTINGS, March 1,

A second death following the explosion at Waikonini ■ Station on February 18 occurred this morning in the Memorial Hospital, when Alexander Herbert Anderson, 30 years of age, succumbed to his injuries. There are still four others in hospital, one of whom is in a serious condition.

Six men were injured, one immediately fatally, as a result of an explosion of blasting powder at a camp at Waikonini Station, 30 miles from Hastings, on February 18. A length of fuse which was being tested was thrown down and set off a bag of powder.
