Professor J. Rankine Brown was-wel-comed at the meeting of the Victoria University College Council last night, when he took his seat by virtue of his appointment to the chairmanship of the Professorial Board, in succession to Professor W. H. Gould. Professor Brown was appointed by the council to the house committee and to the Sarah: Ann Ehodes Committee, and Professor Gould was reappointed to the Weir House Committee. A vote of thanks and appreciation was passed to Prdfessor Gould for his services to the council.

In order to cater for the largo attendance expected at the Hutt Park Trotting Meeting tomorrow, the Railway Department has made arrangements for a fast and frequent train service direct to the course. A popular fare has been provided for the occasion.
