ASSURANCE OF^ SYMPATHY

RUGBY, February 26.
The Austrian Federal Chancellor, Dr. Schuschnigg, and Foreign Minister, Dr. Berger-Waldenegg, who during their brief visit to London have,, had the opportunity of meeting many members of the British Government, and other prominent public men, will leave for home this afternoon. Then? series of calls yesterday included a visit to Mr. Arthur Henderson, and the topics discussed "with him are understood, to have covered the questions in which he is' interested as President of the Disarmament Conference and as leading member of the Labour Party. Some four hundred persons, representative of ■ British and. diplomatic society; attended a reception held last night at the Austrian Legation in honour of the distinguished visitors. Today they were the guests at luncheon of Sir John Simon. ' Sir. Robert-Vansittart,, representing the Foreign Secretary, the Lord Privy Seal, Mr. Anthony Eden, and the Austrian Minister were:at the station to bid farewell to the Austrian statesmen when they left London for Vienna this afternoon, . During' their two: days'-,visit the Austrian Ministers gave members, of the British Government full information in; regard to current events in Austria and their recent conversations with, the French Ministers. They also expressed gratitude for the assistance given Austria by ' Great Britain in effecting the recent conversion of the League of Nations loan.. The Austrian Ministers .were assured that the British Government were following with sympathetic attention the efforts , being made to • stabilise political arid economic conditions in.Central Europe.
