iNEW DIRECTOR APPOINTED Sir George Ernest Schuster has been appointed an additional member of the London board of directors of the Bank of New Zealand. The London board now consists of Mr. Cecil Lubbock, Lord Jellicoe, Sir James Mills (at present.in Wellington), Mr.. Robert Mill ...(formerly".' manager of the Bank of New Zealand in. London), and the latest appointee. The appointment of | Sir George Schuster dates from January 1 last. . He was born in 1881, the son. of the late. Ernest Schuster, K.C., and is a'partner in the well-known : London : merchant amd banking house of, Schuster, Spri, and Co., and a direc-; tor of important London companies. Sir, George was educated at Charterhouse and New College, Oxford, and from 1914 ,tpl9lß he saw active service in the/Great.'War. In Northern Russia, he was quartermaster-general p£ the Murmansk forces, and was four times-mentioned: in dispatches. He subsequently' travelled extensively in Central Europe, reporting on economic conditions for the' Anglo-Danubian Association; ikd., 19201 He'was also.chief assistant.,to .the organiser, of interriational credits,'.under, the League of Nations. .■.--..,.... .....'..■, ■ Other positions occupied by £ ', Sir George Schuster were member, of the advisory committee to the Treasury urider the Trade Facilities Act, 1921-22; Financial Secretary to.the Sudan.Government; chairman of-the advisory committee to the Colonial Secretary on East African, loans; also economic advisor to the-Colonial Office in 1927 and 1928; and finance member of the Executive Council of the Viceroy of India,' 1928-34. .
