RETAIL STATISTICS.
The New Zealand Federation of' Drapers, Clothiers, and Boot Retailers has been informed by the Governor of the Reserve Bank stating that the bank is prepared to give sympathetic consideration to a request for its co-operation in the matter of collecting and distributing statistical information, of interest to retail traders. The secretary of the federation was instructed .to reply thanking Mr. Lefeaux for his letter and asking for an opportunity of discussing the details of the scheme with him or some other representative of the bank to be appointed by him. Berlei, Ltd., Sydney, has declared halfyearly, interim, preference, and ordinary dividends of 8 per cent. ~per annum, payable March 1. In the use of all-steel railway carriages,, Britain lags behind Germany, the United States,. Italy*- and, the French State railways. Only 15 per cent, of British rolling sto_ck«is steel. '
