HUTT COUNTY MATTERS

• .Sir, —It is most extraordinary, how some people seem to oppose air progress. We have two striking examples of this in the Hutt County Council. In the first place we have those'who are opposing the Paremata Bridge. '■ This surely must be of inestimable benefit to Plimmerton and the surrounding district. '" .' . ' ■'-.;' :
Then we have the drainage for Day's Bay. There are those who are raising every obstacle, against making'the bay a.clean and healthy place to live in. II personally cannot"' find any good' reason for either of these schemes not being carried through. We pity those folk with so little courage and enterprise.—l am, etc.; '
