PAREMATA BRIDGE
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—What is all the fuss with regard to' the Paremata bridge? Do ratepayers realise that not one single name has been' subscribed to any letter or any pamphlet in opposition to the bridge? Is-it that there are only a few. people in the. opposition, .and the bubble of. their propaganda will be burst on February 13 at the poll? Every ratepayer should realise1 that practically the whole of the ratepayers of the riding will vote in favour of the bridge, because the bridge will increase the value of - every" property in- the riding. The Pafemata bridge today is associated, with the best.names in the Wellington 'Province-Mfte /names>of men ; who have ", directly; associated themselves with the proposal. When ratepayers realise that; , the Public Works Department, they Main Highways Board, the Hutt. County Council, the Wellington Automobile . Club, and the Paremata Bridge Association are all behind the scheme r it will be seen that the ratepayers ;would~be foolish to beled by a small opposition of people who would prefer to see alii progress stopped and-Plimmertbn and ■pukerua Bay? isolated.—rl am, etc., ADVANCE AND PROGRESS.. | •..>,- v (To the Editor.) • Sir, —Because the Taupo< Riding is so i unfortunate as to be astride1 the only; low-level main . western highways route, surely, Sir, that is no reason I why this poor district should accept a debt of £7000. Can we not be left to rest in peace?—l am.etc., ; "%■ ' ■■■'■ ' UNFORTUNATE RATEPAYER.!
