TRIBUTE BY MINISTER

Before the presentation of the Taianaki Cup to Mrs. W. D. Graham, the Hon. S. G. Smith, Minister of Education, paid tribute to the manner in which owners were carrying on in spite of difficult times. Ho was very pleased with Mrs. Graham's success, and said that she had rendered the sport great service during the past few years. She had a fine horse i l Fersen, and her success might tempt her to purchase another good horse. He also commended the trainer (O.Cox) on the excellent manner in which he had prepared Fersen, and tlie jockey (H. N. Wiggins) on the fine race he had ridden. Mrs. L. A. Nolan, wife of the club president, presented the handsome gold cup to Mrs. Graham.
