PLAYING OF COACHES
Criticism ot the opinion expressed in these columns that the Auckland and Otago professional coaches should have.been included in the Noith and South Island teams is made by a coirespondent ("Spectator'), who contends that the inclusion of the coaches would have meant that a promising young player would have had to be dropped from each of the y, teams,. "Spectator" considers that the inclusion of professionals in the Plunket Shield teams is a mistake, and asks if it would not be possible to requne them to be omitted fiom future teams The conespondent also points out -that Canteroury won the Plunket Shield this season without assistance from professionals "Spectator" does not answer * the arguments in fa\our of the inclusion of the coaches, such as the added air traction to the public and the vahj. able lessons, by precept and by piacticc, which the coaches arc able ta give other players on the field.
