MATTHEWS—WOODS

The weddmg took plage recently in St. David's Presbyterian Church, Petone, of Thomas Russell, only son of Mrs. E. Matthews, Petone, and Jean .Gardener, eldest daughter of Mrs. M. E. Woods, Brisbane. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. C. Loan, and Miss Margaret Williamson presided at the organ. The chur,ch was artistically decorated by t friends, of the bride and the groom with bowls, of tamarisk, tiger lues, and Hydrangeas'. The bride, who was'escorted by Mr. Peter Wilson, wore a handsome gown of delustied White crepe, 'cut on classic lines, with 'godets in the skirt, and long sleeves" rucked at,1 the wrists. Her beautiful embroidered veil-was held in place by a wreath of orange blossom, and she carried a sheaf, bouquet of white carnations, roses, an ld maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Jessie Kerr, was attired faTa model frock of hollyhock pink corded georgette, with 'pleated cape falling in points from the shoulder, the yoke being finished with true lovers' knots. Her hat was of pink straw, and she carried a bouquet of pink carnations. *" Mr. A. M. Macfarlane-was best man. The reception was held at the home of the bridegroom's mother, Mrs. E. Matthews, who received the guests wearing a smart navy floral marocain ensemble with straw hat to tone, and carrying a bouquet of; red roses. Mr. 'and Mrs. T; RV Matthews will make their home at Petone.
