APPRECIATION OF BRIGADE
Appreciation of the work of the Upper Hutt Municipal Fire Brigade at Tecent fires was expressed in several letters received at the meeting of the Upper Hutt Borough Council last evening*: Mrs. E. M. Balcombe Brown wrote stating, with reference to a fire at Maori: Bank, that she was sure 'lone and all behaved splendidly, and I have sent a donation to the honorary secretary with warmest appreciation of their excellent work," For services rendered at a fire at the Plateau, Mr. A. H. Young wrote expressing thanks and enclosing on behalf of eleven residents a cheque for £2 13s. Mr. George Hooper; wrote, enclosing £1 as.a mark of appreciation of the brigade's work at the Plateau fire. Mrs. B. M. Flipp enclosed a cheque'for £5 "in appreciation of your fire brigade's valuable service in fighting- the fire on my property at Akatarawa. Had it not been for their timely aid a great deal more damage would have been done."
