PAREMATA BRIDGE

ENTHUSIASTIC MEETING

A meeting of lady ratepayers . was held at Plimmerton on Wednesday to discuss the Paremata Bridge proposal. Mr. C. Athya presided over a large attendance. Several apologies for absence were received, including one from Mr. James Wallace, who is indisposed. ''■:■■-

Councillor R. L. Button, representative on the Hutt County Council of the Taupo Riding in which the proposed bridge and road will be situated, outlined the proposals in regard to the project. The meeting was very enthusiastic and a vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Button for his address.

The following resolution, proposed by Mrs. W. Amon and seconded by Mrs. Watson Bramwell, was' carried unanimously:—

"This meeting of lady ratepayers of Plimmerton unanimously approves the Hutt County Council's scheme for the construction of a ferro-concrete 'bridge and main highway into Plimmerton. It regards the new proposal as a far better one than the toll bridge scheme, and thoroughly in the interest of the district, and recommends all lady ratepayers to vote for the bridge on the 13th inst., and thus secure direct access ■to Plimmerton." ; . v
