RESTORATION OF CUTS
"FARMING IS BETTER"
Notice of his intention to move for a report on the wages paid to council employees, with a view to ascertaining whether increases could be made, was given by Councillor R. G. Mexted at the monthly, meeting of the Makara County Council today.
The chairman (Councillor R. W. Bothamley) said that the best' time to consider the matter would be when the estimates were being considered.
Councillor Mexted said that it was a matter of nolicy. Things were improving. The Government had increased wages, and farming was better. ■
The chairman said that the. council would be only too anxious to restore any cuts.
Councillor Mexted said that a restoration of the cuts was an incentive to bring things back to normal.
When a Moravian manufacturer -went to inspect the villa he was having built, not a trace of- it was to he found. While building operations were, held up until the owner's return thieves had removed the building brick by brick, working at night.
