.- Special forecast for Wellington:— '.Moderate to fresh but gradually - - decreasing south-easterly winds. Weather cloudy and with moderate temperatures, but Improving , tomorrow. Moderate north-easterly winds are expected to prevail in the southern, half iof the. South Island; according to, the forecast issued at noon today. Elsewhere there should be moderate to strong, but decreasing south to southeasterly winds. Weather conditions are expected to be fair to fine in most districts with moderate but rising temperatures. Some scattered rain is however likely on the east coast and in the far north. During last night barometers rose considerably from Wellington southwards and also to the east of the Doi minion, and, as a consequence, fresh to strong south to south-east winds were blowing at 9 a.m. today in and north of Cook Strait. In the' south; however, they had fallen away and were,, tending northerly. : There have been scattered rains more particularly along the east coast, but in most cases the falls were only light. Temperatures have fallen somewhat and are now more moderate. Barometric pressure is again beginning to fall over the Tasman Sea. Auckland has experienced cloudy and rather humid weather. Yesterday a north-easterly breeze blew, but last night there wis a change to "the south. Unfortunately it was not accompanied by rain. t - At Wellington the weather" was'fine and hot yesterday morning with ' a light northerly breeze. At about 1 p.m. this changed to a moderate south to south-easterly, and after 2 p.m. the sky became overcast with light cloud. No rain fell, but this morning the'sky was threatening and there was one or two very light showers. Following the southerly change there was a fall of temperature yesterday in the course of an hour of about 16 degrees,and it has remained moderately cool since. At Christchurch the weather hss been dull, with occasional misty rain, but rainfall there has totalled only .03 of an inch. Temperature has been moderate and steady. ■ A* strong southwesterly was blowing yesterday but it has since gradually decreased. : Dunedin has had alternate sunshine and broken cloud with a light northeasterly wind. The temperature is still rather warm.
