RONGOTAI AIRPORT
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —As a recent visitor to the airport and the beautiful bathing bay at; Moa Point, may I be permitted to reply to a few of your correspondents. Firstly, I consider that they should not exaggerate—a recent correspondent talks of "now the mixing plant is no more," or to that effect. If seems to me that 80 per cent of^the plant* is intact. Then some^ few ,months * ago a serious misstatement was made by one of the extended airport advocates, wherein he stated that the beach "was not used to any extent." Well, on Sunday last there was no parking room for cars—and 'almost'as 'many people in the water as" at Lyall Bay. Of course the extra hour sunshine which Moa Point enjoys would possibly account for its popularity. With dressing-rooms, footpath, ' motor-bus service, etc., this would be the-most popular beach around Wellington.—l am, etc., , ' ■. „ . ~ D. E. DUSTIN. -
