NEW BETTING MODE
WILL DUNEDIN CHANGE?
Recording to advice fioin the south the Duncdin Jockey Club may decide to adopt the Foibuiy Paik system of betting for its Cup Meeting next week. The Dunedin Club appealed to be one of the strongest adheients ot the standard win-and-plaee sjstem, and from the general racing point of view it would seem regiettable if this club should „ allow itself to be. influenced by the apparent success of the hotchpot vogue of wagering used at Foibuiy Paik. In view of the mci eased' turnovei at Forbmy Park it might not be safe-at'present to assert' that the novel system could find no favour with the general lacing public, but it would be sw-piising if in the long run it had such result. The Foibinyv turnover might even ha\e been greater than it was if the old sj-stem oi tl-.s stiaight-out wm-and-place system had been used, and the leturns of other meetings during the last fortnight- indicate this possibility. , • The division of the pool at Forbury Paik was interesting, being as follows— 75/25. W-ancl-p. Total.- ---£ £ S First day .... 10,978 4,973 15,051 Second day ... 15,378% 9,099^4 ''25,378 Totals' „.'... £26,356Vs £14,9721,4 £41,329 Fiom these iiguies it"would"seem that the old 75/25 per Cent, mode was much more popular than the place system, but of course this might not be the true deduction, as all the big investments would go on the 75/25 per cent, machine.
