The New Zealand Cup winner Steeton, is beginning to infuse dash into her work again at Invercargill, and she is entering calculations m the far south for the Dunedin Cup, in •which she may meet that other good maie Cuddle. Steeton, > Pompax.,' Signaller, Honest Maid, and Thornton participated in a'mile aud a quaiter trial at Invercargill last Saturday morning. Pompax was the pacemaker fiom the woid "go," but Steqton put in a fine late run to collar hei At the finishing post. The fiist halfmile was run in 57sec, five furlongs in lmm 6sec, six furlongs in lmin 19 3 ssec, the mile m lmin 45 4-ssec,-and the full d;stapce m 2min 13 l-ssec. Steeton's perfoimance.was a .specially good one,- as ishe was, carrying over 9.0, but Pompax, -uho •has been barrier-shy in public, also made ia. fine showing.
