AUCKLAND RESIDENTS
HOSPITALITY TO SAILORS

AUCKLAND, February 6.
By decree dated December 3, the President of the Frenth -Republic, M. Lebrun, has been pleased to confer the following honours upon residents of Auckland—
Cross -of Knight of the Legion of Honour Mr. G. W. Hutchison, C.M.G., Mayor of Auckland; the Hon. John Alexander, C.M.G., M.L.C., president of the ■ Auckland branch of the Navy League; the Rev. H. K. Vickery, chaplain of the Missions to Seamen, Auckland.
Offlcier r d'Academie Mrs. M. M. Ifwersen, president of the Mercantile Auxiliary Club.
The Cross of Knight of the Legion of Honour is the highest French honour.
The awards have, been made as tokens of appreciation of the very cordiaj welcome which 'the 'city of Auckland and. the institutions mentioned have never failed to extend to various French' Warships calling at this port.
