LONDON FEARING FLOODS

i-'\- vi, LONDON, February 6.' • The Thames is higher than it has been since the floods of January, 1928 Water at the Victoria Embankment is four feet above, normal .high water. Somerset House vaults are flooded and- the. underground railway from Westminster to Blackfriars was only sayed-.by a special gang of pumpers called up for a hundred miles, along the Thames.. Officials are anxiously watching the rising, tides which are due with a north-east gale from Norway. Many basements of riverside houses are already flooded, and the police are preparing to warn affected areas if there is theleast danger of the recurrence of the disasters of 1928 when whole families were surprised and drowned in their beds. .
