STEELWORKS STRIKERS

CLASH WITH POLICE

LONDON, February 4.

The Paris correspondent of "The Times" states thlt ■ strikers at the St. Leger steelworks, marching towards the factory to prevent others from working;,attacked a cordon of mounted police with bludgeons and razors.

The police charged, but were heavily outnumbered. Reinforcements of foot police relieved a critical situation, attacking the mob in the rear, clubbing them with carbines, injuring 20 and arresting six.
