TRIAL OF MOTORISTS
Delegates at the half-yearly meeting of the North Island (N.Z.) ;Motor Union generally , expressed 'their satisfaction with the present thirdparty, legislation. As a result.of a letter received from theVWRMA, Sydney, inquiring iegarding third-party insurance, those present weie given the oppoitunity of commenting on .the justice or 'otherwise of trial by ]ury in cases where damages are claimed from motorists While some members considered that trial by a Judge alone might result in fairer decisions, the general opinion was'that' it would be injudicious for the Motor Union to take steps in the matter now.
'Mr. E. : A.vßatt (Wellington) said that it would .be.most unwise to try arid'interfere with the-jury "We have perhaps one of the finest systems in the. world: and we would be putting our foot nicely intoat if we interfered," another delegate.
