THREE MEN ARRESTED

AFFAIR AT/MELBOURNE

MELBOURNE, February 3.

Customs officers early this morning effected a big opium seizure. They saw three men acting suspiciously in a fiat-bottomed- boat near an'overseas steamer berthed in the River Yarra. Later they saw them row away and transfer something to a.motor-van further down the river. -V V

Customs officers in cars pursued the motor-van at high speed, firing many shots at its tires. Eventually they overtook the van and arrested the trio. Quite a number of tins of opium,were afterwards picked up along the route of the pursuit. ,
