DOGS AND MOTORISTS

That mistaken kindness can grow into cruelty is shown by the large number of dogs that are killed in and around the city: through being given | too much liberty: : Last Thursday the inspector for the S.P.C.A. (Mr. R. A. Nicol) had to destroy five dogs that had been injured by motor vehicles, and yesterday two more had to be destroyed. Mr. Nicol stated today that iL,was. the dog owners and riot the motorists who were to blame for these casualties. During his wide experience he had met many motorists who had struck dogs and in almost every instance the collision had been occasioned by an unexpected rush by the dogs. Such collisions were distressful in the extreme to motorists, and owners of dogs should guard against them by keeping their dogs on leash, or by better training.
