The youngster if well forward, and he w going to improve fast as soon as he has experience. .Good judges in Taranaki are picking the three-year-old Fersen to win one at least of the cups on the autumn circuit this year. One has seen enough of-him to believe that he is a true-blue stayer. Imperial Spear is reported to be working very nicely at Riccarton at present, and it would Dot be surprising ,if his name appeared on the .winning list again very soon- He has continued to do' well' since bis good form on the - West Coast, at the New Year. -, Only three of Hunting - Song's stock came under the hammer last week. Ruesell, whe was in hospital for some weeks as a result of a fall at Ellerslie on Boxing Day, has returned to Riccarton. It i* unlikely, however, that he will resume race riding,for some time yet. Although a trip to Melbourne was contemplated, the programme is subject to modification, and it if possible that it will be restricted to the Sydney meetings.
