DRASTIC ACTION NEEDED

HAMILTON, This Day. Tho need for immediate and drastic action to combat the peat fires now raging in tho Wiiikafo was emphasised at a conference of local body representatives and Government officials today.

It was decided to approach tho .Government for funde, and a committee was set up to negotiate in the matter.

A county representative expressed the opinion that any relief should be financed by the Government.

An unemployment official said he was empowered to utilise'labour under certain conditions.
