PICNICS

The weather favoured- the Wellington City Abattoir picnic committee for theii* ' annual picnic, which was held at Day's Bay last .Saturday., The committee responsible for the outing was Messrs. P. Titshall (organiser-'and handicapper), F.; Mndigan (secretary and treasurer), J. Thornton, F. Henderson, M. FJynn, and 11. Taylor. Races were run for the children, each child attending receiving a' small present. The outstanding event of the day, in which much interest aryl cnlhusiahm is always roused, was the race for the Field- j ing Cup, .which is competed for annually ' and run over a course of 120 yards. Mr. V. Henderson, the winner, gave a very credit- | able performance, finishing with a fine burst of speed. RESULTS OF EVENTS. The various events resulted as follows:— Fielding Cup.—F.
