GAMING ROUND UP

RAIDS ON HOTELS (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, This Day. Simultaneous raids by detectives on Saturday afternoon upon four hotels resulted in eight arrests under the Gaming Act, and this morning various charges were preferred, but the hearing was adjourned for a week. Among those 'taken in charge were- the licensee, his wife, and the barman of a suburban hotel, tho other five arrests being made in three- city hotels. Four of the men were barmen, and it is alleged against them that they permitted tho promises to bo used as common gaming-houses, while it is alleged against tho'fifth that he was carrying on. the business of a bookmaker in the bar.
