A GLANCING BLOW
HOOD AND RENOWN COLLIDE DIVERS INSPECT WARSHIPS GIBKALTAE, January 26. H.M.S. Hood and Renown have arrived. Naval ratings declare that the collision was' due to tho Renown allegedly not receiving sufficiently early the Hood's signal'to form line. This resulted in tho Benown, travelling at 18 knots, striking the Hood a glancing blow amidships. Although the engines were reversed, a second impact occurred as the vessels swung clear. They also stated that the Renown's ram is two feet out of alignment, probably indicating extensive damage below the waterline. Divers are inspecting- tho battleships. . ■
