AND LIGHT RAIN Special forecast for Wellington:'— Light south-easterly winds at first, but northerlies again tomorrow. Weather cloudy to overcast wittt light rain at times, but soon improving. The general forecast issued at noon today for the Dominion as a whole it for moderate but freshening winds to the south of Hokitika and Timaru. Southerlies will be predominating, but northerlies will be extending later to beyond Cook Strait. The weather in most parts will be cool and cloudy with scattered intermittent rain, but there will be a temporary improvement soon. An intense westerly depression was responsible for strong northerly to, westerly winds on Saturday, with rain at times in western districts from Taranaki southward. By Sunday morning, however, barometers had risen in the south, but another depression moved -on to the Dominion and the 'western districts had further unsettled weather, conditions elsewhers being mainly fair and warm. A southerly change since last night has brought showers to parts of the east coast of the .South Island and to the 06ok Strait area. Auckland's weather has been fair to 'fine and warm, a moderate south-west-erly wind predominating. A light north-westerly, however, was blowing this morning. Wellington had continuous sunshine on Saturday, but a strong and squally north-westerly wind prevailed all day. Sunday was warm and sultry and cloudy at times, the wind being a fresh one from the north-west. A light shower fell at 7 p.m., and it rained again this morning between 2.15 and 3.30 o'clock. The wind changed to the south at 7 a.m., and further rain, fell. Up to 9 a.m. today 10 points had been recorded at Kelburn, while 16 points fell in Lower Hutt. Christchureh had sunny and hot weather on Saturday with a boisterous north-westerly wind. This died down at night and up to 11 a.m. on Sunday winds were light and variable, but thereafter a fresh easterly prevailed. The sky was overcast all day yesterday, and at 5 p.m. one point of rain fell. Tho weather this morning was overcast with a light south-west-erly wind. Duncdin's weather on Saturday was sunny and warm with a strong northwesterly wind. Late in tho afternoon this changed to the south-west, an 4 rain set in. Yesterday's weather wri mostly dull with occasional shower*. The weather this morning was cl<n»4y with a light northerly; wind.
