LIVESTOCK SALES

THE FEILDING MARKET LAMBS IN KEEN DEMAND As was expected at the Feilding sale a full representative entry came forward, more particularly in the lamb section. There were some pens of good b.f. lambs, while in so far as the shorn white-faces were concerned, the sale was not up to last week's standard. The w.f. wether lainbp in the main showed the effect of travel and were more of a second-class type of lamb. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report, however, that the lamb section of their entry met a particularly keen sale and a total clearance was made under the hammer (with the exception of two pens) at prices which in their opinion must be in venders' favour. In the breeding ewe class any fresh chisel-mouthed ewes sold particularly well, while on the other hand ewes from a distance with doubtful mouth and &howing the effects of the journey met with a rather sticky sale. In the fat sheep and fat lamb sections a very moderate entry came forward and met a sale at prices on a parity with last week's rates. Owing to the short supply in the beef pens an appreciation in values resulted. Store cattle sold at late rates. Quotations:—Fat sheep: Ewes, 15s Id, 10s 3d; lambs, 19s, 20s lOd, 21s 3d, 22s sd, 23s Store sheep: Shorn b.f. lambs, 10s 3d, 12s Bd, 12s 9d, 14s 9d, 14s lOd, 15s Id, 15s lOd, 16s; woolly b.f. lambs, 14s sd, 18s lid, 20s 2d; shorn wether lambs, 11s Od. lls lOd, 12s; woolly wether lambs, 13s lOd; two-tooth ewes, small, 21s 9d, 225; five-year ewes, 18s 9d; sound-mouth ewes. Distributing Co., Ltd, report on the Feilding sale:—Upwards of 17,000 sheep of all classes was submitted, there being a large attendance of buyers. Our entry comprised many farmers' lines of forward and store lambs. Bidding for all lots of lambs was keen, a total clearance being made at auction at prices fully firm on those ruling last week. There was more inquiry for breeding ewes, and all g6od sound lines were in demand at increased rates. Beet was firm at late rates. A small yarding of run cattle met a dull sale. GOOD-MOUTHED EWES WANTED. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report: —There "was a very heavy yarding of store sheep and lambs at the sale. AH other sections were lightly represented. Breeding ewes were penned in larger numberß and ewes showing quality with good mouths were keenly competed for; one Hue of a'gg-marked five-year-olds bringing 18s Id. ' We sold on account of Mr. W. A. Coombs his annual, draft of six-year ewes from Pohangina at 20s 4d to 20s lid. In the store lamb section the yarding contained a big proportion of good-quality local lambs very suitable for fattening, and competition was well sustained throughout, the market being fully up on recent sales. Travel-stained and harder sorts were only a shade easier, but we report a total clearance. There was another small yarding ot cattle, as is usual this time of the year. Beef, of which there was little first quality offering, barely maintained recent rates, and store cattle were very difficult to quit.We quote:—Fat lambs, 16s, 17s 6d, 17s lOd. 18s Id, 23s 2d; b.f. lambs, 9s 6d, 9s 7d 9s Bd, 10s, lls 6d, 14s 6d, 15s, 16s; shorn b.f. lambs, 9s Od, 10s 7d, 12s 6d, 13s, 15s; wetherI'lambs, 7s 9d, 9s, 9s 6d, 9s lid, lls, lls 3d, 12s 2d, 12s 6d, 13s 6d, 16a 6d; wf wether lambs, 6s 9d, 8s lid, 13s; ewe lambs, 9s fld, 10s 6d, lls 9d, 13s; m.s. lambs, 6s, 7s lOd; b.f. two-tooths, 16s 9d; fat two-tooths, 23s 4d; fat ewes, 14s; two-tooth ewes, 20a 3d; four and five-year ewes, 15s sd; five-year ewes, 15s 3d, 18s Id; f.m. ewes, 7s 3d; breeding ewes, 16s 3d, 16s 6d, 20s, 20s 4d, 20s lid; fat Red Polled heifers, £6; fat bullocks, £4 10s, £5 17s. PIGS AND POULTRY. The Dominion Auctioneering Company held its weekly pig sale on Saturday. Compared with last week's prices, the realisations were slightly better.
