DR. D. JENNESS
SENATE CONFERS HONOUR
FOREMOST ANTHROPOLOGIST
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHUBCH, January 21. An honorary degree of doctor o: literature was conferred on Mr. Diamond Jenness by tho Senate of the University of New Zealand today, on. the recommendation of the Academic Board. ■ Mr. Jenness was formerly a student of Victoria University College, graduating M.A. in 1908 with, first-class honours in classics, He is at present chief of the anthropological section under the Canadian Government, and ia charge of the anthropological department of the Canadian National Museum, Ontario.
Dr. Jenness has written numerous and extensive reports on various phases of Eskimo anthropology, and in addition a well-known book,'"Children of the Twilight," published in 1928. Ho has also published and edited reports on American aborigines. He'- is recognised as one of the leading anthropologists of the present day, and his published works aro evidence of his outstanding literary ability.
