This yearrg Auckland Cup winner Gol.l Trail has registered some of her best performances at .Ellerslie, where as a two-year-old she started four times at tho | Summer Meeting to run a second, a third, and two fourths. As. a three-year-old har performances on the course included wins in the Great Northern Guineas and m the Clifford Plate and third in the Greit Northern Perby. Subsequently Gold Tru'l developed a dry cough that apparently affected her form..considerably, and she had a very^ l«an time as a four-year-old, wiDnintc only ope email stake. This' mion Gold Trail has come into her own again, and sho has recorded font wins, in addition to a number of placed performance^. Her stake-earningß amouut to £3639 and a gold cup, and she has proved a very profitable investment for Mr. D. M. Douglas at~ the 150 guineas he gave for her when he purchased her at the Trentham yearling sales in 1931. Gold Trail _is a chestnut mare by Chief Ruler from Pure Gold, by Psychology from Desert Gold, by All Black from Aurarius, by Malster, and belongs to a ( fam,ily that has given the New Zealand Turf some great performers. She contested the Auckland Cup two years ago as a three-year-old, finishing sixth, and last year she was also a runner but bled and had to be eased up. ; .'
